Buy for the impact, not the name
Medicine, Slam & Wall Balls
Slam balls are designed for repeated floor impact; many medicine and stitched wall balls are not and can fail if used that way.
Pros
- Supports throws, carries, rotations and conditioning.
- Compact compared with many strength machines.
Cons
- Product names do not guarantee slam suitability.
- Throws require clear space, a suitable wall/floor and noise planning.
About Weighted Balls
Choose the construction for the movement. Sand-filled non-bounce slam balls suit controlled repeated floor impact. Large stitched or polyurethane wall balls suit throws and catches but may explicitly prohibit slamming. Traditional rubber medicine balls cover rotational and partner exercises, with bounce and impact guidance varying by model. Check diameter as well as weight because size changes grip, storage and catching.

|---|---|---|
| Slam | Repeated floor slams | Use a suitable surface and follow impact guidance |

Frequently asked questions
Can a wall ball be slammed?
Not unless its manufacturer explicitly permits it. Many stitched wall balls are not designed for repeated floor impact.
Why does diameter matter?
It changes grip, catching position, storage and how consistent technique feels across weights.
Do slam balls bounce?
Many are designed for minimal bounce, but behaviour varies. Follow the product guidance and maintain a clear impact area.
