Used as seen
Usually the lowest price and highest buyer responsibility. Ask for serial numbers, service history and current video evidence.
Refurbished
The term has no single standard. Obtain a written list of replaced parts, cosmetic work, testing and warranty coverage.
Ex-commercial
Heavy-duty design may suit demanding use, but dimensions, power needs and dismantling can be impractical at home.
Inspection checklist
- Frames: look for cracks, corrosion, bent sections, poor repairs and movement at joints.
- Cables and belts: inspect the full travel for fraying, glazing, splits and incorrect routing.
- Bearings and pivots: test under load for noise, play and roughness.
- Electronics: operate every button, resistance level, sensor, safety key and display segment.
- Completeness: confirm pins, collars, guards, manuals, adaptors, keys and proprietary hardware.
Space and setup
Record assembled dimensions, heaviest single component, power supply, ceiling clearance and anchoring needs. Price dismantling, palletising, tail-lift delivery, stairs, installation and disposal of packaging.
Safety and maintenance
Do not use equipment with damaged safeties, cables, frames or electrical parts. Commercial machines may require specialist engineers and parts tied to a serial number. Confirm who carries risk during dismantling and delivery.
